UL Listed 497 Fire alarm Approved surge suppression designed specifically for SLC and RS485 Data loops. Very sensitive fast acting and in series design surge suppression that will protect a very low current, and upto 24V DC. SLC and Data loop are very sensitive circuits and the surge suppression device needs to clamp at 34.4V or no more than 10 volts above it's operating voltage to be effective on low pf capasitance PC boards like fire alarms. Product Retail $87.44 ea.

boards like fire alarms.
This is also a noise filter as well. As a trouble shooter, we have used this product on SLC and data loops to deal with noise as an issue. It works very well, but not as tight for the clamping voltage. However, used as a noise filter because this device solves the noise problem such as radio station, or heavy white noise. Also an important feature is the fact that it is a UL listed device for fire alarms and Fire Marshals will not force you to take it off. It can be a fix, however any generated noise is telling you there is a grounding differential issue and a potential violation of Art. 250.94 of the NEC code book.
Remember to follow NFPA 800 recommendations, and the subsection that it also calls for is NEC code Art. 250.94 for mittigation. The HandBook version is very useful.
